It did not go so well today. Having walked the course and was very satisfied how I would ride it I knew it wouldn’t suit Sky as it was all about turning back to the right

(his difficult rein) and fence after fence coming up very quickly. My friend Jason was the course builder and we discussed together how the course would ride and I decided to do it, one because I’d paid to and two because I thought it would be great for me to practice under no pressure as I had qualified the day before.

Sky was considerably quieter today in the warm up so I kept my Spurs on. I never ride him in spurs usually.

When I went into the ring I suddenly realised I didn’t need the spurs, so I sat quiet and stayed with the plan. After fence nine and I was on for a clear I heard the bell go, looking up at the judge I was wondering if they made a mistake as they said I was being eliminated. It turned out I’d missed out fence seven. Something I never do and I left the ring very disappointed. Sky was also disappointed as he knew he’d done nothing wrong.

So it made me think how ready he is to tackle tomorrow indoors. He’s not a lover of noise and tight spaces and the televised arena is all of that, but I feel I’m riding well and he’s jumping super, so I’m happy to give it a go.

It might be a mistake to do it but I’ve nothing much to lose. I know the horse well enough that if it goes wrong I can put it right.

Part of me thinks I can’t do better than to at least have a go, after all nothing ventured nothing gained.

I’d heard that they are taking clear rounds in the indoor before the class, now this is a real opportunity to show him around. I prayed I wasn’t too late to get a ticket. Grace and I hung about to see if we could get one and much to my annoyance the lady on the reception said we were too late. I was gutted and said to God, my chances would have been better if I could have had a look round.

When I got back to the place we are staying at, I told the lady there, (by chance she was going back to the show) and asked her if she would secure me a place.

I wasn’t feeling very hopeful as I knew this was an impossible ask. However, she just rang me saying she’d got me a ticket. Isn’t that amazing! God is so faithful.

Until tomorrow then.
