The beginning of the week started with amelie crushing one of her beautiful pups , I was completely devastated . I turned up to feed the horses at four as per normal. I was distracted for a while with the washing machine repair man. And then when I turned to go into the office to let amelie out , shock horror , there she was the biggest girl , lying on the sofa motionless all on her own.
I ️later found out that when a puppy dies , it’s normal for the mother to remove it from the litter.
This really shook me up, I was very upset, I couldn’t believe this could happen , especially to amelie . She has had so many litters and never made one mistake . I called Robert , I couldn’t call mum as it was her birthday. Robert came and dealt with it , I was very grateful to have him there. I couldn’t have dealt with this on my own .
So the week has been all about making sure this doesn’t happen again , and sadly on Wednesday she did it again, I realized she was more tired than usual , I’d been walking her with the other dogs ( which I never usually do at this stage ) and being older I guess she is just a bit clumsy now. Amelie was very upset as she really loves her puppies . So I anointed the remaining puppies and Amelie , so far so good ..I’m praying they will all survive . So sad especially as they are so plump and so healthy.
Other than that the week has been really nice , peaceful and pleasant .
I’ve been working on my horses and getting them ready to start jumping outdoors , sparkles and Sky are pretty special, I feel blessed . I’m off now as I’m sitting by the Fire and my cheese fondue is calling 😊
