Today is beautiful sunshine
Today is beautiful sunshine and I’m sitting here facing the sheep field doing my writing and amelie is sleeping in the sun by my feet.
Days like this fill me with inspiration and hope for a great future, in the background as I’m writing I can see the movement of sablet (my pregnant mare) out the corner of my eye. Her tail is swishing in the glorious sunshine, perfectly in rhythm from left to right. I’m casting my mind back to this time last year when I had the anticipation of the arrival of my foal, the difference this year is I don’t feel so nervous.
Last year it was as if someone was telling me to expect bad things, it’s a different feeling now, as if the opposite, I’m feeling quietly assured about things.
There has been as you know some changes to the yard. But the two liveries that had upset me are now leaving tomorrow. I’m completely at peace with this choice, it will be so good to end that ghastly episode and all the people on the yard are relieved to have a nice harmony back. I even got a weird email from one of the sisters, which I guess was some sort of excuse for the bad behaviour, had it been a decent apology I may have been a little bit interested in responding, but again the theme was all about her and no suggestion of an apology, that makes it all the more easier to say goodbye.
Robert and I are trying to work things out, I hope and pray this can be done as I do love him dearly, but I’m a demanding women and it will take a hell of a man to get me down the isle ! He knows what he’s up against and God willing he will come through.
I managed to get all my fields rolled and harrowed today in the sun, I absolutely love the fact I had bought the machinery a few years ago, it’s easy for a women to use. So I can stop what I’m doing and jump straight on it, instead of tirelessly waiting for someone else to do it and of course it’s then done too late.
The fields look good – they need the warmth now to start growing, and then my horses will have some nice summer paddocks, it was a nice feeling harrowing what one day will be the front room of my house 😝
