Today turned out to be one of those wonderfully hardworking but rewarding days. It started with an early bath at 6.30 am, woken up at the crack of dawn and for once not by my cat Vargy but by dearly beloved Nik, great that he is such an early riser. Anyway off to work we went and I must say it’s nice to have a bit of company on the journey. We stopped off swiftly at the usual takeout, to pick up a bacon sarny and a cappuccino.

I was still feeling a bit weak so I let laura and Nik steam from the mucking out why I did the horse list for the day. I decided Laura could give them all a good lunge and Sky (the stallion) a nice hack round the roads (more like the wall of death in Nazeing) as he is super safe on the roads.

I received a suprising sms from one of my owners that he would like to take his horse to a show and compete, bit of a worry as he has not competed for 4 years and has not ridden his horse for several months, however its his horse and who am I to say he cant. However my professional head is telling me to advice him differently. But no doubt when people take a mad notion which is often the case with this client, my experience tells me to let them get on with it.

Anyhow the horse now will need to be ready which means tomorrow I will end up back in the saddle no more easy days for me …

As for the rest of the day with Laura working the horses and then letting them relax nicely in the sunny paddocks after, and Nik working on the yard jobs, left me to cut my lawns, which I love doing, it reminds me of when I used to look out of the class room window dreaming of one day being out of school riding somewhere !!

The next job was to tidy up my lorry which has been bugging me for a long time, yuk I hate dog hair ! no more Jack Russell’s after Jack departs. The lorry actually took me four hours to put right. I am still weak as a kitten from the bug I had.

Anyhow its looking pretty good now and my mum helped. I love Wednesdays and Sundays as mum and Allen come over for the day and there are always things for Allen to mend. Today three pipes went on the lorry, lucky I checked.

Also a couple of rails went, courtesy Sky junior, (my 2 year old by Sky) what a jumper, apparently he jumped the field gates today, he he .. anyway the day ended well with a good long walk round the fields admiring my work with the dogs.
