Breaking the Colt

I cannot believe I was riding in a vest top yesterday, it is so warm here at the moment its absolutely marvellous, lovely sunshine all day, what more could you ask for when working with horses.

Yesterday I started to break my colt in. I very rarely do breakers as I think its a mans job. However I don’t know many good men I could send him to. He is a special one and could easily get upset so I thought I would do it myself as we have a good understanding of each other.
I was also pleased how he has taken to lunging, He seems to understand long reining which I have done before, but I don’t do too much with the long reins. I prefer to teach them some manners on the lunge and when when they understand all that, I jump on. So far so good. He has a lovely temperament, but he is a big thinker. Its better if he thinks positive thoughts about his work, and how yesterday was a success. I didn’t over do it, I just got my point across on both reins in trot with the saddle on and stirrups banging about. He was ok with all of that.
Today I will do much the same and see how he remembers yesterday. I will keep you posted.
I have not heard from Alan, so I guess he has given up. Which is good really as it was all a total waste of his time. I didn’t mind as I’m quite laid back with men, but I appreciate that in the end I was wasting his time.
Its quite interesting when you study people how many of them have multiple issues. I’m always so shocked how people present themselves and their desperate ways and how they drive for attention, especially women. After the ball it got me thinking. I was amazed how my friends could sleep with total strangers with no regrets. I’ve never been like that and I don’t think I ever will. Everybody is different and what’s good for some is not for others, but it does make one think and reflect on your life. I feel very lucky to be the person that I am, and actually I don’t have any issues. But by all accounts that’s not normal. I always thought I was very normal, but interestingly enough I’m not at all.
