Hi There.
I went to Pyecombe yesterday and spent all day phoning them to make sure we were not going to be late, and after a  big jam on the M25 we missed the newcomers. I had to go straight into the 1.10, without walking the course. Because I had Romeo in it i had a very fast warm up, guessing my way round the track and losing my stirrup over 3 fences down a committed distance of a 7 and another 7 I still managed to do a double clear.
I was more than pleased with Vanilla. I bred her myself by my stallion Sky High, she is my first horse from his lines. Horeya my partner and owner of Sky High would have been happy if she could have seen her, once again my confidence is up that she will make a very good 8 year old, due to not staring until she was 6, she is a late horse.
Romeo on the other hand was disappointing. I thought I had him so ready, bursting at the seams and cocky as hell, but he spooked all the way along the long side of the school and wouldn’t go near the jumps on the left. I was so angry with him and went straight into HC and did a really good double clear.
After that I thought he would have been OK to jump the fox, which to me didnt look very big, but it had some very interesting distances, like a long six going into a spooky double up the hill , with a flapping marquee behind it, would have been difficult to stand him off a double. I opted for the short seven, either way he stopped 3 strides out and I was fuming, eliminated, arghh …
All in all it was a disappointing day. I came home with a double clear in the 1.10 which is useless, and a big E on my favourite horse, sigh we go forward and try not to dwell on these ups and downs.
So Addington on Wednesday with Vanilla, newcomers and fox hunter and Sabbers for the 1.30 on Thursday.
I will attend Chris Harris’s funeral on Friday, which will be very sad indeed, then on Sunday I will go to Quainton with the B team again.
I went to church tonight, God I have missed it. It was Communion and it was fabulous. I love my vicar, he is such a Christian. He told me my friend Rose is dying now, I am so sad about that. I will pay my last visit to her tomorrow, she has a tumor on the brain and has only a few more weeks to live.
She is a big Christian so I am not so worried about her, as i know she is saved, but of course I am going to miss her, She has prayed so many times for my horses and dogs, and all prayers were answered. I can see from now on I am at the age where I will keep losing my friends, hard to get your head round.
