Its been a while.
Its been a while since I wrote but I have been flat out at shows and with customers. Firstly the shows have been fairly OK. Romeo is without doubt going the best, he seems on very good form, jumping really well forward with lots of courage. I have kept the classes small to get some good clears, after which I would like to try him at some bigger classes. My vet recommended some shock-wave treatment for his back, which I have to say has really made a big difference. I wish I could afford to have that done a few more times. I felt the effect had made him a lot stronger.
The other horses have had average results. I tried Pegasus over a 1.30 this week. It was quite a friendly 1.30 so I am not sure why I rode it so bad. Most likely because I really haven’t jumped him enough in those classes. He seems a nice horse, a strange way of jumping verticals but nevertheless an uncomplicated horse generally.
The rest of the horses have had a break this week as I have been looking at horses with a friend, he is a very nice man, a friend of Cons who I have not seen since he died. You can imagine it was a very special time as I haven’t really had anyone to speak to about Con since he passed away.
We have been travelling around the country for two days solid, looking at some of the best 4/5 year olds in the country.
One thing I remember about doing this with Con was visiting the dirtiest yards in the worst of weather. Standing around constantly getting cold and being so disappointed in what we were shown. Only rarely did we ever come across anything nice. However this time was not like that. I soon realised good horses come out of good yards, so every yard we went to was very clean well light and usually a nice indoor school. We only saw very nice horses, in fact everyone was good enough to buy. Whether my client buys one or not remains to be seen, but one thing for sure is I thoroughly enjoyed his company and I think he enjoyed mine.
