I did it.
I took Sky to see if he could be selected. And to be honest I thought I got it right on the day. Neither of us were particularly nervous or tense and I think I rode well but Sky didn’t put a foot wrong. He complimented me by saying he’s very chilled. Which as you know Sky is pretty far from chilled and he called him a real power house. This is captain John Ledingham by the way.
So I was super pleased and if we don’t get picked at least I can say I couldn’t have done much more.
So strangely I’m very happy. Now I understand how people feel when they go to do the voice. The rejections OK if you did your best, it’s when you know you could have done better that’s a killer. And I felt the day was just perfect.
I was pleased my Mum and Emily came for support and Mum made tea and sandwiches which was so nice. Emily was just great as she helped me for free and I really appreciate things like that.
I’m more nervous sitting in my yard waiting for a customer to come for a lesson. Last time I did this and let the dogs roam around I looked up to find Beauty and Beast in with the sheep. I called them and they came straight away however the sheep didn’t move I then I realised it was dead. I knew they didn’t kill it as I saw them but it was a worry none the less.
So I’m going to finish this then put them straight to bed. Also Sabbers foal hasn’t arrived and she’s got the biggest teats ever, so surely in the morning, and now I’m convinced it’s a filly, hopefully a chestnut one.
Also Rocky is really sound. I’m so pleased with the work of my farrier who has done an amazing job and my vet for talking him through. To be honest I’m starting to think I wish I had these two involved from the beginning. By now Rocky would have been to several shows. Anyway we are on our way now.
Talk soon.
