Well its a tough time at the moment. We have a lot of ice and snow and it doesn’t look like its going away for a while. Lugging bales of hay up the top field is a bit of a chore but I feel its improving my leg muscles, a small bonus. There isn’t much we can do in this weather so I’m taking it easy and enjoying a break from jumping.
I have decided to retire Sky although I am not sure he is happy about it. I feel he has come to the point where keeping him going is no longer enjoyable and he is feeling the strain as competitions are not what they use to be. There are many horses jumping clear rounds now in a 1.30 so its unlikely he will win much money in his classes, also he is sound and well and I don’t want to break his heart. I will try a bit of dressage with him in the summer as an outlet for him.
I had a good meeting with Lars in the week, he is on good form and has helped me clear my head with some fresh thoughts and ideas for the future.
Things at the stables are going well with liveries and clients and I feel we have a very good team around us at the moment with some great youngsters I have bred from Sky which all look really good. The first colt is now in work and ready for his first show. I will let the girls do that as they seem to enjoy the small classes more than I do.
I have booked a skiing holiday and I am really looking forward to that, as its been a few years since I last went and I loved it. I also started playing tennis again, with a tutor of course. He is a very handsome man, I have to say. I have also joined a local chess club for a bit of evening fun, well its better than the pub since I decided to give up drinking.
Anyway, other than that I’m taking it easy and spending my time on Facebook talking to my wonderful Syrian friend. What is going on out there is very upsetting. I think I need to concentrate on praying for those wonderful peaceful people as they now are facing a civil war. I cant imagine how bad that will end up.
Its absolutely how amazing God is, how he uses people like me to bring people together, in the mist of things I can actually see the point of all this, I hope others have a clear vision.
