EXPERIENCED TO ADVANCED RIDERS

Anyone who has learnt to ride elsewhere will be assessed in their first lesson and rated according to Nikki’s overview of the lesson.  If riders are above Grade 6 , they will then be rated in according to the BHS Stages, BD dressage levels or jumping experience. Our aim with these riders is to advance their riding along Classical lines, by improving their position, suppleness, balance and feel.  Lessons on the lunge may be included to help progress.

Our horses in general are well educated and responsive. Those used for jumping are experienced, knowledgeable and confidence giving. While our school horses are by no means push button, they are sensible and forgiving, so riders can improve their skills, whilst feeling confident that they are learning.

PROFESSIONAL EQUESTRIAN EDUCATION

As well as offering quality tuition from novice rider level right through to advanced competition standard Nikki offers a variety of services to horse owners and riders.

THE RIDER AND THE RELATIONSHIP

Whether you seek to improve your confidence, build healthier relationships or deepen the connection with your horse and improve your riding ability, Pentonville Lodge can help you explore how connecting with your horse can nurture and inspire you.

BEGINNERS AND NOVICES

We take riders from the age of 4 upwards. They are taught using our grading system. Grade 1 includes the basics of mounting, adjusting stirrups, etc. also how to stop, go and turn. Each Grade must be completed before the rider is allowed to move on. This gives a thorough grounding and builds confidence. Riders of Grade 4 upwards can learn to jump if they wish.

PRIVATE INTRODUCTORY COURSE

Ideal for the complete beginner or those with a little riding experience, this one-to-one Introductory Course will, over six one-hour sessions, provide a thorough grounding in basic horsemanship.

Riders will learn the correct position, along with the control and balance needed to further their riding skills confidently and safely. Theory topics will help promote understanding of and empathy with the horse.
