I had a very interesting day yesterday. I decided to go to Felbridge as planned. I took Sky, Vanilla and Rocky. Vanilla was very strong and difficult to turn and it was such a difficult Newcomers that I had to retire. When she gets tense the steering completely goes and it made me realise how much schooling is missing. I ended up schooling her on the flat after for at least half an hour until she was soft and light in the hand again. After all that, although she gave in I will definitely change her bridle. I have a very good double bridle I use for horses that get a bit numb so I will try that today.
 
Rocky on the other hand was good. I don’t miss very often but on a horse that needs to be deep a bit off can be way off, and he didnt like that shot. So in the 1.30 I made sure I got him close to where he feels confident and he jumped a good clear round. His owner will take him to Hickstead next week and I am pretty sure that show will suit him. He does shy at ringside jumps but at Hickstead with its vast ground you are usually far away from any distractions, probably a good show for Romeo.
 
Unfortunately Pegasus is still lame. He has a bruised soul so he is out of Hickstead and Sabbers is still on box rest, so I guess we will be taking just two.
 
Small Sky is jumping well. I will jump some fillers today and see how he goes. He is so easy and so natural. I am so proud of what I have made of him and he has a mouth like cotton wool, so soft and so pliable.
 
Its a nice day here and I am now off to pick up Maria and Ludvik from their local hotel. They really enjoyed the show yesterday and found the comparison from Sweden quite different. They will hopefully come back and base here in the Summer which will be fantastic. She is such a great person and I really enjoyed her company this weekend. Thanks to Facebook we never would have met.
