Horse of the Year Show.
Last night I went to Birmingham to watch the foxhunter final at Horse of the Year Show. To be honest it was a real disappointment. Not only was the jumping a bit hit and miss, but there was no atmosphere at all. I found the commentary so boring I could have switched off and fell asleep and typically there was no one there.
I’m not surprised there was no one there as the venue didn’t even have any decent restaurants on site, and I certainly did not want to drive to Birmingham and eat at a burger bar. So unless I qualify one of my horses to jump there I certainly won’t go back.
It was obviously a big struggle for them to get riders as I’d learnt from some riders that they were actually paid to turn up with all expenses paid. Some where looking around for horses to borrow for a week, so you can imagine even as top riders it didn’t go well at all.
So I guess even though we have some of the best riders in the world and some very good young horses coming through, no one wants to jump in England.
This week I’ve finished all the painting with Jacqui’s help, and I have to say things are looking very nice. Johnny did a great job of the parking area and now my mind is just full up with getting this planning permission. I’ve arranged to meet a consultant now for my final stages, and I’m very optimistic. I really feel God is saying to just concentrate on this for a while and worry about the horses next year. I suspect he has something very exciting for me waiting round the corner.
Once I have the house in place I can relax and concentrate on my writing as I really want to finish my first book. I will then concentrate on writing some children’s stories.
I need the house in place as I need the peace and tranquillity it will offer and the veranda I will build will be perfect for creating this.
I will take Bambi and Argento to some shows this week and hopefully I will get Argento going better than he has been of late. He’s surprisingly very stroppy so one never knows.
