Busy at Addington.
Straight away I knew we were in for a long day. That’s the problem with the babies coming it makes the days so long.
Anyway, Grace jumped well on Eddy although its a shame as she had one fence down which was jolly unlucky as the rest of the round was good.
Argento was good in the Discovery but the bigger class I guess was too tricky for him at this stage. The distances went from long to short very quickly making it necessary for the horse to be rideable, which I regret to say at this stage he is not. So I had two stops and was then eliminated. Despite being annoyed I went back in again (HC) and he finished up jumping OK.
Bambi was good, great in fact and as ever she did a lovely double clear. I didn’t get placed as I couldn’t risk the turns (clients for her the next day) although I thought a good double clear was a good option.
We left the show for once in good time. I was going out that night so I was keen to miss the traffic on the M25. I kept telling the girls as long as we are away by three we will miss the traffic. It was actually 2.30 so we were on good time.
The minute we hit the motorway we were informed of an upside down lorry and that the motorway was now closed !! Damn. That was to be my evening out. We spent two hours trying to get off the M25 and another three hours to get home.
I decided to stop at McDonalds. With the Police all over the place I took the liberty of driving the 30 tonner in reverse into the drive through, which turned out OK. The Police were cool thank God.
I told him of my desperation and he just let me get on with it. Then thanks to my friends iPhone we found a successful route home. Always a worry as you never want to meet a low bridge through a town diversion in 30 tonner, which I did before!
I still sweat remembering reversing half a mile through a busy town in Luton.
The clients turned up early the next day to try Bambi. A nice looking trainer 🙂 and he rode her well. However the girl probably needed a bit more of a steady schoolmaster than a speed horse,. Hey Ho that’s the way it goes.
So the next excursion will be Patchetts on Sunday. Just as well I like it there as again we will be in for a very long day.
Talk soon.
