Addington Manor
What a relief to be back at a competition that has good ground and run properly. Sky definitely was more relaxed and therefore focused perfectly at this show. I was relieved as I was hoping Netly Hall had not put us back in our progress, and being on the Equine Pathway I certainly don’t need a bad score on his record.
Fair play to Sky as he never has fences down if ridden well, so I decided to go for a steady clear in the Foxhunter and he delivered the first clear round of the day. That felt nice and Matt who judges always says nice things about us.
Then I went in the Grade B and C Handicap and at a show like that it was going to be hard to get placed. Fortunately there was only one double clear of B horses leaving me to battle it out with the remaining eleven C horses.
I did all the turns, which he did with ease and that put me into sixth place. It was lovely to be in the line up at a prestigious show like that.
So with Netly Hall firmly behind us and three clear rounds at the hardest show in the country, I’m feeling a lot better about going to the National Championships. That starts Tuesday next week and I’m really looking forward to it now. Grace is coming on Eddy as she did qualify for the Champs in the British Novice.
So Sparkles is out in the field until September accompanied by Argento, who I recently bought off Jacky and Claire. She has gone today looking for a nice young horse and I’m actually really excited for them. I myself might buy a few youngsters now to sell on to create revenue while I’m waiting for the livery market to pick up.
I’m doing more teaching than ever and I have to say all my students that own horses are jumping a lot of quality rounds, it makes the job easier when people have a good horse from the beginning.
Beauties pups have grown a lot, they’re just two weeks today and blooming huge. I’ve sold one and have three left. I’m hoping to buy another bitch to continue with the breeding system but I will wait to be lead by God over that.
Chelsie has been great and she is such a wonderful groom and person she has been working hard on the Internet looking for dogs. I’m very lucky to have her at the yard.
Right now I have a very good team of people and all the people that I feel are not right for the place have moved on or will be moving on. I can’t stand bad payers and currently have two at present. I don’t accept this in business. You cannot give people 100% if they don’t pay you, they are stupid to think you will.
At least I can say that no one has ever had to ask me for money.
Since I’ve been back this week I have been working hard each night painting the stables. I have to say they really look nice and it does make a difference.
Robert is still working hard to finish the walker, and we are very fortunate that they cannot pick up the digger for another week, and are not charging me for it.
God is faithful.
